No Ubunut!!!!
The whole blogosphere is overwhelmed with the announcement and celebrations of Ubuntu 7.10, that is why in this post I am not gonna write just another blog announcing Ubuntu 7.10 release or its features. I am going to share here what I experienced with Ubuntu 7.10. When I heard that Ubuntu 7.10 is finally released and Mark Shuttleworth is very excited about it, I thought I should give it a try too. I must say I am impressed.
Few months back I tried Ubuntu 7.04 on my Acer Ferrari but that wasn’t able to boot off live CD so I gave up. But few days ago when I installed openSuSe 10.3 I realized that it is not worth installing it any more, because they have changed everything, and now it needs proper testing. I am kind of a busy person and currently don’t want my laptop to be used as a testing machine for openSuSe 10.3 or some other distro. I am looking for something more stable.
Ubuntu was not on my list until today. But today when I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 and tried to boot its live CD, I am shocked and impressed. The first thing I noted is my wireless card is working, simply wow!!!!!! Now I can’t stop my self from saying that Ubuntu now is the right choice for the desktop. Now I have 3 distros out of one is goning to be on may Acer Lappy, don’t know which one it will be.
The distros that I will now choose from are, Ubuntu 7.10, openSuSe 10.2, CentOS 5 (because of its stability)
I know I had few bad experiences with CentOS 5, but it is pretty much stable and running perfectly on my Desktop. And also stability is the reason I Love Linux.
But I was like No Ubuntu!!! until I downloaded this new Ubuntu 7.10. Let see how this new Ubuntu gonna play on my lappy.
If anyone else out there have good suggestions especially for the right distro for my Acer Laptop then I would love to know about it. Thats it for now.
